We encountered some challenging weather for Addy’s senior portraits at Standley Lake in Arvada, Colorado! The wind gusts were strong and unrelenting. We had moved Addy’s senior session forward a day because rain was in the forecast on her original session date. Even with the wind, moving the session date ended up being the right choice because there was a forty-five-minute downpour (during her originally scheduled session time) the next day!
Fortunately, the wind worked WITH Addy and not against her, picking up her hair in the best ways possible! Addy was a great sport throughout the entire session despite the blustery weather, and that made all the difference. She didn’t let her smile falter and that allowed us to keep shooting and capture her hair in the wind at just the right moment. Addy is adventurous and had a vision for her session. She came to me with a wish list for her session location that included things like tall grass, water with a sandy beach, and mountain views. I knew just the place that would check all the boxes!
During Addy’s senior portraits at Standley Lake, I also had the pleasure of meeting her mom and older sister. They were such a kind family and I loved working with them! Addy’s mom and sister were the perfect support team to hype her up, fix her hair, and help with outfit changes. Those are the type of people you want with you on session day! Enjoy some of my favorites from Addy’s senior portrait session.
