Picking a location for your Denver senior photos can be challenging! There are plenty of beautiful spots for senior photos around the state and you want something that’s not overdone and feels like YOU. If you’re searching for an outdoor location for your senior portraits, you’ve come to the right place! I’ve photographed seniors in gorgeous locations all over Colorado. Here are 5 of Denver’s best outdoor locations for senior photos that aren’t overdone.
The Denver Botanic Gardens
You might be thinking, “I thought you said this list wasn’t overdone”. I don’t think it’s even possible for the Denver Botanic Gardens to be overdone! There are SO many different backdrops available at the gardens that you can easily get a fresh look at a classic location. The Denver Botanic Gardens does require a photography permit, but I handle the application process for you so there’s no stress.

The sunflower field at Anderson Farms
This location requires planning ahead! The sunflower field is only open for about a month and dates are limited to shoot during golden hour. But, the planning is WORTH IT! Senior portraits in the sunflower field are gorgeous, and you can even pick your own bouquet. No permit is required here, but you do have to pay a small fee for admission to the field.

Mount Falcon Park (east)
If you want views of Red Rocks in the background, the east trailhead of Mount Falcon Park is the perfect spot for you! Here you’ll also find tall grass, a view of a little pond, and some wildflowers during certain times of the year. This spot does require a permit, but I hold this permit year-round, so there is no additional cost to you.

McKay Lake
McKay Lake is a beautiful location if you want lots of greenery! Here you’ll find tall grass and plenty of trees! During certain parts of the year, you might also spot some wildflowers. No permit is required!

Standley Lake
Standley Lake is a versatile option for senior photos. You’ll have views of the lake, tall grass, and mountains in the distance. There are two sides to Standley Lake, and you can photograph on either side. No permit is required here.
